About the test
Composition Skills Index (CSI) is a specially-developed diagnostic writing test that reveals key areas of writing strength and weakness across the school. Unlike many tests, the CSI is externally marked, and uses scientific analysis of student writing. Assessment is based on the key academic writing skills demanded for success in school life today: fluency, structure, analytical ability, style, precision, and coherence.
How it works
We create your test online and supply you with instructions which are distributed to staff and students. The test lasts 20-minutes, and submissions are sent online to us.
If required, we do offer an alternative paper based test which we will provide templates and instructions for. This test lasts 15-minutes, is collected, then returned to us in class sets for marking.
Once analysed, we report back to your senior management team.
Results are broken down by year level, and each report includes specific recommendations identifying how to remedy writing gaps identified among student body at respective year levels.
Staged reports provide accurate information on educational value add for Boards of Trustees and senior management.
HOW IT WORKS

Once base-line data has been established for your school, student progress can be monitored through timely re-assessment.
Regular re-assessment provides accurate information on value-added and next steps for Boards of Trustees, SMT, and other stakeholders.
